MLS betting preview: FC Dallas -LA Galaxy
I like Galaxy with the draw no bet option, in a match where both teams are struggling for form. However, the hosts full from grace has been far more emphatic, they have not scored a single goal in six starts ( five MLS), or won in nine league outings, top of the Western Conference after 11 matches (7-3-1), they are outside the playoff places after the next 11 (1-5-5).
LAG have not played a league game since their 2-0 defeat in Colorado two weeks ago, but have played friendlies against Milan, Juventus and Real Madrid since then. They actually beat Juve 3-1 and that was a massive confidence boost, especially with the return to action and goal for Landon Donovan, who had been out of Galaxy action for a month. They could have scored more in that game, so whilst meaningless, it was the match of the three they were targeting, they lost to Milan a few days later, but took that less seriously, with focus clearly on the match this evening.
Galaxy are now down in sixth place in the West after wins for Real Salt Lake, Seattle and Vancouver last night, three of the other big powers in the Division, failure to get something out of tonight's match is going to see them fall further off the pace and defeat, would mean they were passed by Dallas too. I also feel the Dempsey signing for Sounders will further motivate the visitors, they are used to being the big MLS team, the one who make all the marquee name signings, Donovan, Beckham, Keane etc and now all the talk is about Seattle and that will hurt these big LA egos.
The two clubs met in LA last month with the hosts winning 2-0 and putting in a very dominant showing, with 23 attempts on goal ( a dozen really good scoring chances) and a lot of crosses into the box from open play, with both goals coming from balls from the left flank. Seattle beat Dallas 3-0 last week and had similar joy with these crosses into the box and an inability to defend them, is clearly hurting them. All the big names are back now for Galaxy, Robbie Rogers and Donovan should have a lot of joy out wide, Robbie Keane looks in good shape and Omar Gonzalez is also back and defensively, is as important as any of the "better known" offensive players. 1.5 units LA Galaxy level ball 1.95 asian line/Ibramarket.
Good Luck.
