Wimbledon won 2-0 , the result is good, but it is the quality of the preview you should be more interested in and hopefully, that shines through. League 2 : York City-AFC Wimbledon

City have not won in five since an opening day win over Northampton Town, they failed to score in their next three and whilst they did manage at least a goal in their last two, they came in defeats and very long journeys down to the West Country to face Bristol Rovers and Exeter City, five hours plus back on the team bus from the latter is a long time to reflect on a season which has not started as well as hoped. They did strengthen in the summer, but lost a very key player in Matty Blair (44-6-5) to Fleetwood ( see above and the long term preview) and as a team have still not gelled and I feel they have not been helped by a free midweek ( bye in the JPT) as it is games they need right now. They remain without injured striker Wes Fletcher , new loan signing midfielder Ryan Brobbel is away on international duty with Northern Ireland Under 21s and striker Ryan Bowman serves the second of a three match suspension.

In stark contrast, the Dons, under Neal Ardley could hardly have started better and could move into the top 3 with a win this afternoon.Despite Fleetwood feeling hard done by last week, AFC did win 2-0 and missed a golden opportunity to score a third as time expired and they saw the match a little differently, although Ardley did concede that the Cod Army had several chances to take the lead in the first half. They have since played at majestic Griffin Park in midweek, losing 5-3 to the mighty Bees, the hosts did rotate heavily, but Ardley also rested his senior players and went with a very young backline and complete defensive reshuffle. Positive for them was that they refused to lie down and again showed a big offensive threat. They will have Barry Fuller and Andy Frampton, who must have been disappointed not to have played against his former club on Tuesday, back in the line up and that is 63 years of combined Football League experience, circa 500 games and as I explained earlier, it goes a long way at League 2 level. Ardley has traded well and used his contacts in the game to full effect, offensively young Charlton striker Michael Smith, Burnley frontman George Porter and Luke Moore have paired well and energetically with Harry Pell and Jack Midson and all look to have goals in them. Theme right through the team is that Ardley has got together a squad who have largely either grown up, or played most of their career in South London ( with a  real Charlton, Millwall, Palace theme), so the players are happy and comfortable in surroundings and have gelled together well. They scored six ( three in each) in doing the double over City last year and look to be playing the hosts at a good time. 1.25 units AFC Wimbledon level ball 2.20 asian line/Ibramarket.
