World Cup Preview: Honduras v Ecuador

Enner Valencia

Firstly, we can look at Honduras, once again they looked to kick anything that moved in the France game, but as expected, the French got at least some protection and Stoke City's Wilson Palacios , who along with Maynor Figueroa is their most experienced outfield player, received a red card and will miss today, the Hondurans also have one or two others carrying knocks, which is ironic.

This fixture will be Ben Williams first World Cup game in charge, the Australian referee has been involved in some controversial domestic decisions and the largely inexperienced (outside of Asia/Australasia) official will be put in the spotlight and to the test today. He will want to impose himself and I would also not rule out a red card in this match.

We are already in the Ecuador camp and had highlighted their threat out wide from Jefferson Montero and the better known Antonio Valencia ahead of their opener , the former earned a lot of plaudits in that game and I have no doubt the main attacking avenues will be down both flanks again today.

We also spoke of striker Enner Valencia and are on him in the top Ecuador goalscorer market at big odds and having scored the only goal against Switzerland he is in pole position for that, but it is hard not to see goals today and he probably needs at least one more to clinch the "award" .

Valencia is 2.75-3.20 to score at anytime today and that looks perfectly reasonable, about a striker at the top of his game (and I loves me an inform front man) , who has scored in his last five international appearances. If you are already on at the bigger odds, there is not much need for further involvement, but if not , or you just feel like "pushing" your interest,  1 unit seems about right, maybe even a little more if you can get the bigger odds.

Surely we will see more offensively from the Hondurans today and for them to at least look for the win, but they have failed to scored in five World Cup games and if they do open up, even if it is after the break, Ecuador have the pace to exploit the extra space. I hope that footballing justice is done and that the South American side win this and I feel they will, but current odds seem correct.

However, we can expect this to open up more, the longer it goes and if we can find -0.75 ball 2.10 +"in running" , as long as we are 11 v 11 on the pitch and Ecuador are not already leading, then I will take that for 1.25 units.
