Even allowing for this being a post season fixture, it is set up to be a Ligue 2 game unlike we have seen for a very long time, last three home attendances for PFC have been 3,200, 3,263 and 5,910 the last of which when they needed the points to finish top 5. Tonight, a two hour drive from Lens on a midweek working day, RCL will have 7,000 supporters in the stadium, probably more, as some will doubtless find their way into home ends with tickets for sale today to PFC fans. I suspect that well over half the crowd will be visiting fans and this will negate a lot of the home advantage. I have spoken often of how big a club Lens are, they have a L2 budget 5-6 times greater than many at this level and double that of all but a couple of rivals and bigger than nine top flight teams. They regularly play before 30,000 at home and should never be outside Ligue 1. They looked on their way back when starting this campaign on fire with 6 wins in their first 7 starts, but have spent most of the second half of the season in 5th/6th place quicksand and looked set to miss out on the post season, but won their last three to claim a spot, scoring eight goals in the process.  Looking at the season as a whole, PFC collected two more points, but RCL scored 13 goals more and had a +7 greater goal difference, in actual fact, their GD of +21 was top 3 level and I like that as a gauge of a team's true ability. PFC have the meanest defence in Ligue 2 but score at less than a goal per game and that makes things tough when they do concede and they have not won in four home starts when allowing a goal against and only once all season, they have also won just 1/13 on the road when they have conceded, Plan B is limited and you do feel they need to score first this evening. I am going to side with Lens off level ball and the "12th man" to help them over the line.
