National League:  Woking - Torquay United

Brentford were close to a ground share with Woking here at the Kingfield Stadium a few years back and more likely to be playing non league than Championship football for a time and I always think of that when I look at Cardinals games, or get too peeved with the Bees !

Woking have conceded 12 goals in their last four starts, 4 in each of three and that trio of games all played here on home soil. They are fortunate that there is no relegation to concern them, as not only are they conceding for fun, but are totally injury ravaged and what players they do have available are running on empty. I understand that team news is very similar (edit: actually the list is a little longer and 10 players are missing today) to the weekend game, a 4-0 home loss to Wrexham when they reported ........... The Cards will be without three further players who have joined a growing injury list. Midfielder Ben Dempsey, winger Jamar Loza, and captain and full-back Josh Casey are all out. Ben Gerring, Sam Ashford, Matt Jarvis, Nathan Collier, Malachi Napa, and Josh Goddard also remain sidelined. Young striker Jayden Wareham also remains unavailable.

Torquay are third and looking to claim the one automatic promotion spot and either they or Sutton look best placed to catch leaders Hartlepool who have played three games more. United have won their last four starts, which included a win away to Wrexham ( see above) and they are very strong on the road, averaging 2.06 points per game this season. They are coming off a huge and confidence building win away to Sutton last midweek (extended highlights) and will be travelling up from Devon in buoyant mood and refreshed after a free weekend. If you watch those highlights United are in white, it was a super performance, I have seen a lot of 5th tier games over the years and this was right up there. They pressed to a very high level (you will not see better in the National League or League 2), hit the woodwork and were denied two big penalty shouts and restricted a decent Sutton team to very little. Away win.
