We have got back on track with the free to view previews with 3 winners in the last couple of days and we are heading for a 13th (from 13 !!!!!!) winning season in a row since that first preview in March 2006.
I have sent subscribers seven previews today, two each from England, Japan and MLS along with one from Brazil and, at the risk of spoling you this week, have included one below.
At the moment it is looking like TEN full previews for tomorrow, six football, four NFL.

Portland then went East last week and ground out a 1-1 draw in New England. They have stopped the rot and whilst not quite back to their defensive prowess of earlier in the campaign , will not need to be today and have got some confidence back. Rapids are coming off a frightful 6-0 home loss to RSL and have lost their last two by a combined 8-0, they did play 45 minutes with 9 men last week, but were already a goal down before the first dismissal and two behind 15 minutes before the second ! They will be without the suspended duo of Bismark Adjei-Boateng and Niki Jackson today which leaves them very shorthanded on the left alongside injuries, as they were filling in on that flank and Rapids will be sunk without Bismark !
Timbers have won the last seven h2h MLS meetings in Portland and took the reverse fixture in Colorado 3-2 back in early season. Hosts are in the final post season spot in the West and can open up a four point gap over chasing Whitecaps (whom they have still to visit) by winning this game in hand.
They lost that 2-0 are four points adrift of the team in 10th and their only target for the season is staying above San Jose and avoiding another wooden spoon. They are better off this week in terms of players avaiable but that is offset by facing a hungry, better rested opponent who are almost certainly the best team in MLS. In very early season I spoke about Atlanata and how they are operating on another level to the rest of MLS.......
They have opened the piggy bank and spent a MLS record $15m to sign Independiente teenager Ezequiel Barco and it will be super exciting to see him, but he has picked up an injury and will miss the opening month or so, but it remains, a massive statement of intent. In addition, they turned down reported bids of a combined $35m for Miguel Almiron and Josef Martinez either of which would have broken MLS records and all these dealings highlight how ambitious United are and that they are operating on an entirely different level to anything or anyone we have seen before in MLS.
They sit second in the Eastern Conference sandwiched between the two New York teams but with five points and two games in hand of City and trailing Red Bulls by one, having played a game less. The additional hunger will come from a 3-1 loss at DCU which they have had to stew on for 13 long days. That was a rare slip up on the road where they have won 8 times, two more than anyone else . No surprise as they play with great pace and teams have to open up at home, I spoke about this pace back in March..............
United got off the mark last weekend with that 3-1 win over DCU in front of 72,035 fans packed into Mercedes Benz Stadium , Atlanta now hold the top three single game attendance records in MLS which is incredible after just 12 months in the big league , preview of that game is reproduced at the foot of this email.
It was a dominant performance and the only shock was that it took United 24 minutes to score and they could have been ahead "long" before that, they went with a new 3-5-2 formation for the first time and they looked to have been playing it for months. It helped them get more bodies in midfield and fill the void left by the departure of Carlos Carmona and we only realised how big that was, the week before in Houston. It also allowed them to overload defensive areas at times and stop the high press. But big bonus was that it permitted both Martinez and Villalba to play together up top, last season it was one or the other, always Martinez unless injured, which he was for the best part of three months when we saw the killer speed of Villalba, Martinez is quick, Tito has about another three gears and the duo the pace to terrorise any defence and playing alongside each other, they both got more space.
Martinez has 28 goals for the season, that is a MLS record compiled with 8 games to spare ! His total is only three shy of the total managed by the Rapids squad, Almiron has been a bit slow with "only" 9 goals and 11 assists and Villalba positively sluggish with just 4 and 5 ! Barco ( see all four players above) is featuring regularly now and United have fearsome offensive options and a solid backline with only Seattle Sounders conceding fewer. Despite losing to DCU, Atlanta "won" possession 62-38, attempts 22-9, inside box 18-6 (!), on target 7-5, woodwork 1-0, saves 2-6 and I suspect it is Rapids who will pay the price for all that domination not ultimately resulting in a win.
